There are various facets to the construction side of our company.
We have a commercial division and recently completed the refurbishment of a redundant printed circuit factory to form five trade counter units principally for a builders merchant in Galashiels (of about 22,000ft²). Additionally, we have refurbished another printed circuit factory into a high specification office building for a leading pharmaceutical company (of about 25,000 ft²).

We are currently working on site servicing and ground-works for 11 houses at Lempitlaw near Kelso and we are about to start 24 houses at East End, Earlston.
Another
element to the business is the construction of sports pitches.
Previously, we have worked closely with Charles Lawrence plc in constructing
a suite of three tennis courts in Ayr, a suite of three tennis courts in Stirling,
a suite of three tennis
courts in Ponteland and we were main contractors when we recently completed
the Volunteer Park Synthetic Hockey Pitch in Hawick and the Multi Use Games
area at Kelso High School.
Projects
Last year, we completed the construction of a two storey 10,000ft² office block for an Edinburgh based developer, and a 27,000ft² semi-retail park in Hawick and we are currently constructing a three storey 15,000ft² office block for the same developer.
On
the ground-works side, we are working in partnership with James Swinton
& Co Limited of Hawick and Berwickshire Housing Association to carry out
the earthworks, site servicing, drainage and road construction elements
of various schemes in Chirnside, Duns and Eyemouth. In addition to
works on housing estates, we have a surfacing squad, who carry out such
varied works as car parks for Scottish Enterprise Borders, cycle paths
from Clovenfords to Galashiels for Scottish Borders Council and numerous
private roads for local house builders to the numerous steading
developments that have sprung up about the Borders. In addition to
this, we carry out final surfacing work for a variety of local house
builders completing the roads to adoptable standard for companies such
as Murray & Burrell, A& J Stephen and L R Adams Limited.
The
masonry squad work closely with Scottish Borders Council on the repair
and refurbishment of masonry bridges throughout the Borders, which is
appropriate given the company's founder was a mason to trade, originally
from Westruther. We have carried out major
reconstruction works following accident damage at Ednam Bridge and Teviot
Bridge in Kelso, and refurbishment at Eckford Mill Bridge, Leitholm
Bridge and Fogo Bridge.
